OpenAI Partners with Broadcom to Develop Custom AI Chips

OpenAI has announced a partnership with Broadcom to design its first in-house AI processors, aiming to reduce reliance on NVIDIA's hardware. OpenAI will handle chip design, while Broadcom will develop and deploy them starting in the second half of 2026. The chips are expected to consume 10GW of power, enough to power over eight million U.S. households, highlighting the growing demand for AI computing resources.
