Paris Prosecutors Escalate X Probe, Police to Investigate Algorithm Abuse & Data Fraud
Paris public prosecutors have formally enlisted police to investigate Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, under allegations of algorithmic manipulation and “fraudulent extraction” of user data from automated systems by an organized group. The inquiry—spurred by reports from a lawmaker and senior official in January—is probing whether X’s algorithms were misused for foreign interference. Authorities may conduct searches, wiretaps, or summon executives to testify.
