Penske Media Sues Google Over “AI Overviews”

Penske Media, publisher of Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Variety, has filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., accusing Google of using its journalism without permission in AI-generated summaries (“AI Overviews”) atop search results. Penske claims this feature diverts users away from its websites, slashing affiliate revenue by over a third since late 2024.
