Philips Hue Leak Hints at Direct Matter-over-Thread Support for New Bulbs
A leak via Amazon packaging and an FCC filing suggests that upcoming Philips Hue bulbs may support Matter directly over Thread, bypassing the Hue Bridge for basic connectivity. Until now, Hue bulbs connected to Matter only through the Bridge. While the FCC filing mentions only Bluetooth and Zigbee, the Matter setup code and use of the same 2.4 GHz band hint at Thread capability enabled via software.
