Satellite Industry Requests Administrative Spectrum Allocation from DoT

<p>The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has been encouraged by the satellite industry to administratively award spectrum to them rather than via the auction route. They claimed that this is related to the fact that there has never been a satellite spectrum auction in India before and that administrative allocation is the norm around the world. "One needs to keep in mind that satcom plays a key role," said Anil Prakash Director General of SIA-India.</p>
