Snapchat Uses Bank-Linked Tool to Verify Australian User Age
Ahead of Australia's strict social media ban for users under 16, Snap is introducing new age verification tools for its Australian users. These tools include bank-linked ConnectID software, which verifies if a user is over 16 without sharing sensitive data, and k-ID's age-assurance software. Snap, despite disputing its social media classification, will comply to avoid hefty fines under the new world-first regulation.
