Split in Indian Gaming Industry: Compliance vs Legal Challenge to RMG Ban
India’s real-money gaming (RMG) industry is sharply divided following the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which bans all online real-money games. While major platforms like Dream11, MPL, WinZO, and PokerBaazi have complied and shut down RMG services, Head Digital Works—parent of platform A23—has filed a legal challenge in the Karnataka High Court, arguing that games of skill should be exempt from the ban.
