Tech Giants Collaborate to Standardize Hacker Group Names for Enhanced Cybersecurity

Microsoft, Google, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks have announced a joint initiative to create a public glossary standardizing the myriad of nicknames assigned to state-sponsored hacking groups and cybercriminals. This effort aims to reduce confusion caused by inconsistent naming conventions—such as "Fancy Bear" and "Forest Blizzard"—and improve coordination among cybersecurity professionals. By aligning threat actor taxonomies, the collaboration seeks to accelerate threat detection.
