Tech Giants Push Passkeys as Password Era Ends — But User Hurdles Slow Adoptio

Tech giants are phasing out passwords for password-free logins like passkeys and access keys, with Microsoft enabling them by default and FIDO (Google, Apple, Amazon, TikTok) backing the push. Passkeys reduce phishing risk and replace weak, reused passwords, especially after a 16-billion credential leak. But user confusion, setup and recovery challenges, and device-security dependence mean mass adoption remains gradual despite industry momentum.
