Tripura to Install Doppler Radar in Belonia for Enhanced Early Weather Warnings
Tripura is set to install a new Doppler radar in Belonia, South Tripura, by February 2026 to bolster its early weather warning system. Currently, the state has only one operational Doppler radar in Agartala. The new facility, sanctioned by the Centre, aims to improve weather forecasting and disaster preparedness, particularly in flood-prone areas like Belonia, which has been severely affected by past monsoons due to its proximity to the Bay of Bengal.
