US and China Strike Framework Deal to Keep TikTok Operating in the US

The United States and China reached a framework agreement in Madrid that could save TikTok from being banned in the U.S. by requiring its ownership to shift toward American control. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said key issues like national security, data‐privacy, and intellectual property are addressed. Still, details are sparse: it’s unclear what ByteDance’s stake will be, how the algorithm will be handled, or whether Congress will approve.
