WhatsApp Deletes Millions of Accounts to Combat AI-Powered Scams
WhatsApp has banned over 6.8 million accounts in the first half of the year, proactively targeting criminal scam centers, many of which are in Southeast Asia and use forced labor. The scams, which increasingly leverage AI, often move victims across multiple platforms. In response, WhatsApp is introducing new safety tools to protect users from these evolving threats.
