Digital Lockdown: New Zealand Moves to Ban Social Media Under 16

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon introduced the Online Safety Bill to ban under-16s from social media, proposing fines up to 10% of global revenue for non-compliant platforms. With coalition partners opposing the measure and Parliament dissolving ahead of elections, the legislation requires opposition support and will not be voted on until after the election.
