Following its classroom smartphone ban, Norway is introducing strict limits on generative AI for schools starting this August. To protect foundational learning amid dropping test scores, elementary students (ages 6 to 13) face a total AI ban, while older students require strict teacher supervision. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere emphasized that the most important priority remains ensuring children learn to read, write, and do mathematics.
