Texas Passes Right to Repair Bill, Poised to Become First GOP-Led State with Consumer Electronics Law

The Texas Senate unanimously approved House Bill 2963, a landmark right-to-repair bill requiring manufacturers to provide consumers and independent repair shops with access to parts, tools, and manuals for digital electronic equipment sold or used in the state. If signed by Governor Greg Abbott, Texas will become the ninth U.S. state—and the first with a Republican-controlled government—to enact such legislation, joining states like New York and California.
