Texas Governor Greg Abbott has halted grid connection approvals for new data centers, ordering an audit by PUCT and ERCOT. Citing rapid expansion and grid strain, Abbott stated "Texans must come first" and required developers to verify projected electricity, water usage, tax incentives, and community impact before accessing the state grid.
