Turn It Down to 78: New York Braces for Scorching 100-Degree Heat Wave

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has urged residents to set their air conditioners to 78°F to avoid overloading the city's strained power grid. With temperatures forecasted to hit 100°F and heat indices reaching 112°F, the city has activated its Heat Emergency Plan. Government buildings are also dimming lights and cutting non-essential electronics.
