Amazon CEO Jassy: 14,000 Layoffs Preserve 'Startup' Culture

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy asserted that the company's decision to lay off 14,000 corporate employees is primarily a "culture" move, not a financial one nor a direct result of AI. Jassy explained the cuts are intended to prevent the company from becoming slow and bureaucratic as it grows, allowing Amazon to operate more efficiently "like the world's largest startup" by removing organizational layers.
