Anthropic revealed that a Yemen-based weapons cell in Houthi-controlled territory used its AI model, Claude, as a stand-in software engineering team to help build guidance software for rockets and hypersonic missiles. The group bypassed AI safeguards across multiple sessions, but returned to Claude for troubleshooting when a test launch failed. Anthropic subsequently banned the accounts and enhanced its threat detection systems.
