Databricks AI Chief Naveen Rao Quits to Build Startup Tackling AI Compute Costs

Naveen Rao, head of AI at Databricks, is stepping down to launch a startup focused on creating a next-generation computer designed to reduce the soaring costs of AI computing power. He’ll move to an advisory role at Databricks, which is also planning to invest in his new company. Rao has already held early talks with other investors. His past includes founding MosaicML and Nervana Systems.
