DOGE Deploys AI Tool to Slash 50% of U.S. Federal Regulations by 2026
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a Trump-era initiative backed by Elon Musk, has developed the “DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool” to analyze approximately 200,000 federal rules and recommend up to 100,000 for removal by January 2026. Pilot usage at HUD and CFPB has already reviewed 1,083 and fully processed bureau-level cuts, respectively. While projected to save trillions in compliance costs, the tool has raised legal and accuracy concerns.
