IndiaAI to Grant Incentives to Eight Local Firms for Building Foundational AI Models

Under the IndiaAI Mission, the Indian government is poised to award incentives—like subsidised GPU compute—to eight homegrown firms developing foundational AI models. Among likely beneficiaries is BharatGen, a consortium of IIT researchers. MeitY’s ₹1,500 crore scheme has drawn ~500 applications. Earlier rounds saw startups such as Sarvam, Gnani.ai, Soket Labs, and Gan.ai approved.
