Alibaba’s Amap Joins Lifestyle Race with AI-Powered “Street Stars” Rankings
Alibaba's mapping app, Amap, is expanding into local lifestyle services by launching “Street Stars”—an AI-driven ranking system for restaurants, hotels, and tourist spots tailored to its 170 million daily users. Supported by ¥1 billion (~$140 million) in subsidies offering ride-hailing and in-store discounts, the rollout spans 300 cities and 1.6 million listings. This move directly challenges rival Meituan in the competitive “instant retail” space.
