Commonwealth Fusion Systems Raises $863M for SPARC Reactor

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), the MIT spin-off, secured $863 million in a Series B2 funding round—bringing its total capital raised to nearly $3 billion. Backed by heavyweights like Nvidia’s NVentures, Google, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and Bill Gates, the funds will support development of the company's SPARC fusion reactor, targeting scientific breakeven by 2027, and advance its first commercial-scale plant, ARC, planned in Virginia.
