Data Centers in Deep Space: SpaceX Preps Nvidia-Powered Orbital AI Tests

Ahead of its historic IPO, SpaceX revealed an accelerated roadmap to launch initial orbital AI computing demonstrations by late 2027. Moving faster than its official 2028 timeline, the company plans to deploy data-center satellites packed with Nvidia chips—each packing processing power equivalent to a ground-based GB300 rack. Pitching itself as the future of space-based compute, SpaceX has already requested regulatory approval for up to one million data satellites.
