EU Project to Clean Space Debris Using Ion Beams

The pioneering ALBATOR project, led by French startup Osmos X, is a €3.9 million European initiative exploring a non-contact method to remove space debris. The project will use ion beams to shift hazardous space junk, bypassing the risks of physically capturing or docking with objects. This is a safer, versatile approach to address the escalating challenge of orbital debris, with research running until February 2029.
