Groq Raises $750M, Hits $6.9B Valuation in Bid to Challenge Nvidia in AI Chips

Groq has raised $750 million, pushing its valuation to $6.9 billion, surpassing earlier estimates. The AI chip startup offers LPUs (language processing units) rather than traditional GPUs, targeting inference workloads more efficiently. Groq’s platforms support cloud and on-premises deployment, running popular models from OpenAI, Meta, Google, and others; it now serves over 2 million developers, up from 356,000 a year ago.
