Bill Gates has warned tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft that local communities will block massive data centers if they drive up household electricity bills. Amid growing public backlash and rising utility costs, Gates stressed that hyperscalers must fund their own power upgrades. In response, tech leaders signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge, acknowledging they no longer have permission to burden everyday consumers.
