OpenAI Plans to Slash Revenue Share with Commercial Partners from 20% to 8%

OpenAI is preparing to reduce the cut it shares with commercial partners—especially Microsoft—from the current 20% down to about 8% by the end of this decade. The shift could lead to over $50 billion more in revenue being retained by OpenAI. The report also notes ongoing renegotiations over server rental fees and a non-binding agreement with Microsoft to allow a transition toward a for-profit structure.
