The UK government has unveiled a £600 million ($800 million) funding package primarily targeted at mitigating AI-driven health, cyber, and biosecurity threats. The initiative includes establishing a specialized AI Biosecurity Lab to detect biological threats, supported by model credits from tech leaders OpenAI and Anthropic. Additional funds will bolster the nation's AI Safety Institute, strengthen critical infrastructure cyber defenses, and back regional AI innovation.
