SoftBank Acquires Ampere Computing for $6.5 Billion to Boost AI Infrastructure

SoftBank Group has announced its acquisition of Ampere Computing, a semiconductor design company specializing in high-performance, energy-efficient processors for data centers, in a $6.5 billion all-cash deal. Founded by former Intel executive Renee James, Ampere will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary while retaining its Santa Clara, California headquarters.
