Synopsys Layoffs: Chip-Design Firm Cuts 10% of Workforce
Chip-design software maker Synopsys announced it will lay off approximately 2,000 employees, representing about 10% of its workforce. The company is redirecting investment towards new growth opportunities following its $35 billion acquisition of Ansys earlier this year. Synopsys expects to incur one-time pre-tax charges of $300 million to $350 million primarily to cover severance and termination benefits.
