Talent Grab: Google DeepMind Acquires AI Startup Mechanize

In a reported $1.5 billion-plus deal, Google has acquired San Francisco-based AI startup Mechanize. The strategic move brings former CEO Tamay Besiroglu and over a dozen researchers into Google DeepMind to work on "midtraining" efforts, significantly boosting Google’s capability to build AI models that can write, edit, and optimize software code.
