The $500 Billion Megawatt: OpenAI and Nvidia Plan Colossal Ohio AI Data Hub

OpenAI is negotiating a 20-year lease for a massive, 10-gigawatt data center campus on federal land in southern Ohio. Developed by SoftBank's SB Energy, the project could cost up to $500 billion to fully build out. To secure OpenAI’s computing power independence, Nvidia is expected to provide financial guarantees for the lease while supplying the critical hardware. The mega-facility’s first phase is targeted to go operational in 2028.
