Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced an October 23, 2028 deadline for India to launch its first fully indigenous smartphone. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit, he emphasized that these devices will be entirely designed, manufactured, and branded within the country, marking a major push for domestic technological independence against global giants.
