India's Sovereign AI Model Set for Launch by February 2026
India's sovereign AI model is on track for completion by February 2026, ahead of the India AI Impact Summit. Electronics and IT Secretary S. Krishnan announced that the government has surpassed its GPU deployment target, reaching 38,000 units, and is developing foundational models tailored to Indian needs. The initiative aims to create AI solutions that are inclusive, sector-specific, and enhance productivity across the country.
