A 14-year-old European court precedent set in Oracle's landmark loss is now threatening Microsoft in a £270 million UK legal dispute against reseller ValueLicensing. The ruling established that perpetual software licenses can be legally resold. After losing both its initial case and appeal over claims that used-license resales violate copyright, Microsoft is seeking permission from the UK Supreme Court to launch a final appeal.
