Grace Period Gone: New Proposed US Rule Threatens Immediate Exit for Laid-Off H-1B Workers
A proposed US regulation currently under review could eliminate the 60-day grace period for H-1B visa holders and other temporary foreign workers who lose their jobs. If approved, laid-off employees would be required to leave the country immediately and could no longer change employers or switch visa status from within the US, unless USCIS specifically excuses the status lapse.
