Scroll Away: DOJ Lifts TikTok Ban on Federal Government Devices

The U.S. Justice Department ruled that a 2022 law banning TikTok from government devices no longer applies. The shift follows a January corporate restructuring that moved TikTok's U.S. operations to a new American-majority joint venture, reducing Chinese owner ByteDance to a minority stake. While the legal barrier is cleared, individual federal agencies still retain the discretion to block the app for productivity or management reasons.
