When the AI Goes Silent: ChatGPT Hit by Widespread Global Outage

OpenAI’s ChatGPT suffered a major global outage, leaving thousands of users stranded across India, the US, the UK, and other regions. Downdetector logged thousands of reports, with around 80% of issues affecting the web version, alongside disruptions to the mobile app and API. OpenAI has acknowledged the outage and is actively investigating the service disruption.
