TSMC CEO C.C. Wei highlighted that while Taiwan’s chip sector faces persistent "five shortages"—water, power, land, labor, and talent—retaining skilled workers is the company's most critical hurdle. Speaking at a science park ceremony, Wei noted that recent rainfall and government infrastructure plans to connect the island's reservoirs have temporarily eased severe water concerns, leaving a drought of qualified technical talent as TSMC's primary threat to growth.
