Databricks’ AI Chief to Resign, Launch Startup to Build Next-Gen AI Hardware
Naveen Rao, former AI chief at Databricks, is leaving his role to found a startup focused on designing a novel computer system aimed at reducing rising costs of AI compute. Databricks will shift Rao into an advisory role and is reportedly investing in his new venture. Rao has begun early talks with additional investors. His track record includes co-founding startups like MosaicML and Nervana Systems, both now acquired.
