David Sacks Slams Anthropic's Push to Ban Open AI Models

White House advisor David Sacks accused Anthropic of trying to eliminate competition by seeking bans on open-source AI models under the guise of intellectual property theft. Sacks argued that restricting globally available open-weight models—even those originating in China—would damage the U.S. open-source ecosystem, pointing out that global developers regularly use open models to innovate and build proprietary technologies.
