Marc Benioff shared that the vision for Salesforce hit him while swimming with dolphins in Hawaii. After realizing the future lay in cloud-based software, he immediately informed his mentor, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, about his plan to leave. Despite the bold move, Ellison initially supported the venture, even investing in the startup.
