The Internet Flips: Bots Officially Overtake Human Traffic Online

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince revealed that automated bots and AI agents now generate the majority of global internet traffic, outnumbering human activity for the first time in history. Driven by a massive surge in "agentic traffic"—AI bots autonomously browsing, scraping, and performing tasks on behalf of users—automated systems now account for roughly 57.5% of all web requests. Prince noted this major milestone arrived over a year earlier than his initial 2027 prediction.
