In the 1990s, Oracle founder Larry Ellison offered to finance a $5 billion takeover to buy struggling Apple and reinstate Steve Jobs. Jobs famously rejected the idea, telling Ellison, "You don't need any more money." Instead, he insisted on returning by selling NeXT to Apple, earning his leadership back on the "moral high ground" and eventually building the world's most valuable company.
