Zuck Confesses: Meta’s AI Pivot Ran Into Workforce Roadblocks

In an internal memo, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted the company made "mistakes" during its massive AI reorganization. Following a May restructuring that laid off 10% of global staff and shifted 7,000 employees into AI-related projects, the company faced extreme 50:1 employee-to-manager ratios. Zuckerberg ruled out further 2026 layoffs, pledging stability, scaled-back manager oversight, increased team budgets, and internal reassignments for those training AI models.
