Digital Curfew: Indonesia Purges 4.7 Million Child Accounts

Following Indonesia’s sweeping ban on social media for users under 16, TikTok and YouTube have deactivated 4.7 million underage accounts. Complying with new child protection laws, TikTok purged 4.1 million profiles, and YouTube removed 600,000. Communications Minister Meutya Hafid praised these actions, emphasizing the government's commitment to shielding minors from severe online threats like cyberbullying, fraud, and algorithmic addiction.
