AI Predicts Blindness Early, Enabling Timely Intervention and Reducing Surgeries

Researchers at Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London have developed an AI system capable of predicting vision loss in keratoconus patients years before traditional methods. By analyzing over 36,000 eye scans, the AI accurately identifies high-risk individuals who require early treatment, such as corneal cross-linking, potentially preventing the need for corneal transplants.
