Chinese EV Makers Race Toward Sub-10-Minute Charging to Challenge Tesla

Chinese automakers including Geely, BYD and Li Auto are developing ultra-fast charging systems that can add hundreds of kilometres of range within minutes. Geely claims its system can charge from 10% to 97% in about 8 minutes 40 seconds, while BYD targets roughly nine minutes. The technology faces challenges involving battery heat, cooling and the huge electricity demand of megawatt-level chargers.
